The Rich History of Horseshoe Bay
Development commenced in 1971 with the inauguration of the Yacht Club, and the name "Horseshoe Bay" was chosen, inspired by a serendipitous encounter with a horseshoe while walking through the land. "One day Norman and I were standing in the middle of the dry lake bottom. I stumbled across a rusty horseshoe and picked it up. We decided that was a sign and settled the question of the name," recounted Wayne.
In 1995, the Jaffe Family assumed controlling interests in the resort, marking a new chapter in its history. As of 2024, the Club and Resort have reinvested over $350 million into enhancing its amenities, with further projects slated for the future.
